Since a good monitor is always required to take advantage of a high-end video card, Acer figured it wouldn't hurt to choose this time, of all times, to make the introduction of the HS244HQ 3D panel.

For those end-users that may not know yet, NVIDIA just launched its newest video card based on the Fermi architecture.

Said graphics card comes with very high performance specifications, especially compared to even the GeForce GTX 480.

One of its capabilities is to handle three 3D monitors at once and stretch its image across them all when in multi-GPU configurations.

The technology is known as 3D Vision Surround and is a more advanced incarnation of the 3D Vision technology.

Acer figured it would unveil not a video card, but a 3D monitor to go with such adapters now that the holidays are closing in.

Said new product is dubbed HS244HQ and has a screen size of 23.6 inches.

As one may expect, its panel supports the Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, as well as a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The refresh rate needs to be of at least that in order for two sets of images at 60 Hz to be possible to produce at the same time.

Each set of images is aimed at one of viewers' eyes and are synchronized by new Active Shutter 3D glasses, which allow for a higher brightness.

Other specifications include a dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1, a response time of 2ms, a white-LED backlight and an HDMI 1.4a connector. Finally, the brightness is of 300 cd/m2.

The Acer HS244HQ should show up in stores soon enough, with a price of 399 Euro. What remains to be seen is how well it manages to sell and what kind of popularity it gains during the holiday shopping season.
