Corsair seems to be quite keen on establishing itself as a household name on the SSD market, and for this reason, it keeps pushing out new and improved products at a fairly constant rate, the latest to join the fold being two brand-new Force series SSD units.

As TCMagazine reports, what we're talking about here are the F90 and F180 models, two 2.5-inch SSD drives available in 90 and 180GB storage capacities, respectively, and featuring SATA 3.0 Gbps interfaces, respectively. Both units are built using high-reliability MLC NAND flash memory modules and are built using the SandForce SF-1200 controller. Additionally, the new Force series Corsair SSDs offer a very good level of performance, since we're talking about 285 MB/s sequential read, 275 MB/s sequential write and 50K IOPS (4K aligned). Also, the drives require a fairly low amount of power in order to function normally, namely around 2.0W Max, while the idle power requirements are rated at 0.5W Max. Moreover, they offer a very good level of reliability, rated at 1,000,000 hours MTBF and being able to support 1500G shocks without losing the data stored within. "Corsair's Force Series of SSDs have become extremely popular with enthusiasts and gamers, and with these two new capacities we can offer our customers greater flexibility to choose the capacity that best suits their budget,” stated Thi La, VP of Memory Products at Corsair. "The 90GB and 180GB capacities neatly fill the gaps in the current family, which now ranges from 40GB all the way to 240GB," concluded Corsair's rep. Of course, since we're talking about some storage solutions providing fairly large storage capabilities, it should come as no surprise that their pricing is actually rather high, the 90GB version being rated at around $189.99, while the 180GB model can be purchased for around $399.99.
