More speed for wireless home networks

Before most people get their chance to take advantage of the technical specifications delivered by the WiMAX technology, computer users out there are likely to switch to 802.11n-enabled devices, which is why we are seeing that most of the recently released portable computer systems come with support for the new wireless standard. However, if you truly need a faster wireless network connection, you are likely to require a more advanced wireless router as well, one that is also featured with the afore-mentioned technology. This is where the new ASUS RT-N13 SuperSpeed N Wireless Router, which was just recently introduced, comes into place.

The technical specifications of this new arrival follow the general features you are likely to encounter in the everyday wireless router, of which you are probably already making good use in your home. This means that RT-N13 comes with one RJ-45 port for WAN connections, and the additional four RJ-45 ports that can be used to set up an Ethernet 10/100 local area network. There are also a number of security features, including 64/128-bit WEP, WPA, WPA2, TKIP, AES, WPA-PSK, MAC address, 802.1x encryption and built-in NAT and SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall, as well as filtering for port, IP, packet, URL keyword or MAC address.

The obvious advantage of ASUS' new wireless router over 802.11 b/g-enabled wireless routers is that it takes advantage of the technical specifications of the N-Draft technology. This will enable users to deal with a maximum connectivity speed of up to 300 Mbps, while the specifications for 802.11g routers can only provide a maximum speed of 54Mbps.

Other details are related to the router's management, and include the EZConfig and EZQoS features, which allows users connected to the network to easily configure it and to allocate as much bandwidth as required.

Details regarding pricing and availability are yet to be made official.
