It appears that the performance and affordability contest on the graphics card market is still going strong, as Hightech Information System has just unveiled its newest Radeon HD 6900 model.

From late 2009 through 2010, AMD can be said to have been in the lead as far as DirectX 11 graphics were concerned.

The company released new boards quite a while before NVIDIA did and, thus, had very strong sales.

Now, the situation seems to have been reversed, as the Santa Clara, California-based vendor has delivered overall stronger boards for the high-end and mainstream markets.

Nevertheless, AMD's partners are still relentless, having taken to modifying the amount of VRAM on some cards in order to strike lower price points.

The Radeon HD 6900 series has been growing with the arrival of 1 GB models, and HIS has just unleashed the latest such product.

Going by the name of Radeon HD 6950 Fan, it is meant as an opponent to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 560 Ti and is found described in detail on HIS's website.

The newcomer has 1,408 Stream Processors and a memory interface of 256 bits, while the clock speeds are of 800 MHz for the GPU (graphics processing unit) and 5,000 MHz for the VRAM itself.

Needless to say, the Sunnyvale, California-based company's various technologies are supported, such as CrossFireX, for multi-GPU setups, Eyefinity, for multi-monitor scenarios, and PowerPlay, which reduces power draw when GPU use is minimal.

The model boasts a dual-slot, single-fan cooler and delivers video to various displays via dual-DVI, two mini DisplayPort outputs and an HDMI connector.

Those interested in taking a direct look at all available info on this Cayman-powered card need only drop by the official product page. Online stores should be selling it for 240 Euro or so, although its recommended price is supposedly of 215 Euro.
