Although adapter is a pretty strong word, especially since bamboo skewers do all the work

Skewers are the sort of thing you use to hold pieces of food together, like when you grill or roast something, but a new 3D printing model on Thingiverse has a new use for them: whisk replacement.

Cooks are well acquainted with whisks, those tools used to mix eggs and make various types of batter, like for pancakes.

Unfortunately, the usefulness of whisks is matched by the annoyance caused by having to clean them. Many people just let them soak for hours instead of having to scrape every little twist of that bent metal stick set.

The 3D printed adapter whose model is now available on MakerBot Thingiverse will allow you to use bamboo skewers instead of a whisk.

It's about as big as a thimble and has six holes where you can affix the skewers. And don't worry about them wearing down or breaking, because you can trim them if it comes down to it, or use them again and again, forever and ever and ever. Okay, maybe not that long, since wood isn't nearly as durable as steel, but the idea remains.

The best part is that you can just take out the skewers after mixing eggs or batter, soak them a bit and then dry them, only to use them again later, or for barbecues or whatever else.
