Officials are set to determine whether or not the parents of a young boy responsible for a shooting will be charged in the case.

The seventh grade student used a semi-automatic weapon to kill a teacher and wound two other children at a middle school in Nevada. He then took his own life using the same Ruger 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

Police are trying to determine how the unnamed 12-year-old shooter has gotten his hands on the weapon. They believe that it could belong to his parents, ABC News writes.

"The potential is there [for charges to be filed]," Sparks Police Department Deputy Chief Tom Miller comments.

Bullying and harassment may have been the causes of the shooter's frustration. He allegedly shot two students who were his friends, police sources said.
