The Intellinav 3 - up to 6 million points of interest

The GPS navigators' market is extremely crowded nowadays, each manufacturer trying its best to gain the smallest possible edge over its competitors by providing certain special features (which are generally immediately copied by the other player on the market). And Netropa's "edge" is the fact that its latest GPS navigation system, the IntelliNav 3, comes packed with a very large database, which includes up to 6 million points of interest, divided into up to 6 categories.

This very large database is saved onto a 2 GB card and one of its most important advantages is the fact that it provides coverage for some regions generally not included in normal maps (namely, regions outside the continental US and Canada), as for example Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. However, there's still some room left after uploading all this data and the free amount of memory can be used for storing MP3 files or photos.

The device also provides extended navigation features, including 2D and 3D map views, turn-by-turn voice guiding, as well as a pedestrian mode for finding foot paths. Moreover, the device from Netropa provides the ability to create alternate routes based on typical traffic patterns or attempts to avoid specific roads.

Beside this large database, the IntelliNav 3 comes packed with relatively standard features for a device of this type. Thus, as most other GPS navigators currently available on the market, the PND from Netropa features a SiRF Star III GPS chipset, a 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD display (320 x 240 resolution), as well as a 1 W built-in speaker. The whole device is powered by a 1200 mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery, which provides a functioning life of around 3 hours.

Although the device is not yet available online (so no pricing information is readily available), it will probably retail for over 450 US dollars, which is a more or less fair price to pay for a mid-range device such as this one.
