Nowadays, one could say that the industry is past the point where wireless networking was abysmally slow compared to wired solutions, but it looks like Netgear wanted more from the former.

Potential is an interesting thing, since it actually defines, to some extent at least, the value of an idea or resource, and it looks like Netgear wants to tap into the potential of something that qualifies as both, namely wireless networking.

Basically, the outfit created the N750, an item that can very well be considered the flagship of its wireless router portfolio.

Essentially, it can reach transfer speeds of 750 Mbps by operating on two bands at once, those being wireless N and the 2.4 GHz band.

For those that want numbers, the speed attained on the N band is of up to 450 Mbps, while the one on 2.4 GHz is of up to 300 Mbps.

Additionally, the router boasts an USB port, home gateway functionality and a DLNA media server, plus parental controls and unique features, like ReadShare, guest network access and IPv6-readiness.

"Home networks are no longer limited to low-bandwidth tasks such as reading email or looking at static web pages. Instead, today's home networks are gateways to movies, television, music, games, video chat and much more," said Som Pal Choudhury, NETGEAR director of product marketing.

"No wireless router on the market today is faster or better prepared to deliver these next-generation online experiences to everyone in the family than the N750."

All in all, the N750 router should prove most useful while streaming HD video content, handling multimedia files of any other sort, playing multiplayer games online, etc.

Of course, being the high-end creation that it is, the Netgrea N750 doesn't come cheap, its price being of $179.99. All information can be found on the official product page, located here.
