Netgear, one of the world's leading vendors of high-performance networking products, has just announced the introduction of its new rack-mount product for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).Simply dubbed ReadyNAS 2100, the new 1U 4-bay storage system from Netgear is said to be capable of allowing SMBs to securely share, store and protect their most critical files across a LAN or WAN network. It features high-end, enterprise hard drives and Error Correction Code (ECC) RAM memory, combined with Intel architecture for a faster performance.

“Combined with our existing ReadyNAS Pro and ReadyNAS NVX, the addition of a rack-mount solution broadens the SMB portion of our award-winning ReadyNAS storage line,” said Mark Song, product line manager for NETGEAR's Network Storage Business Unit. “We're dedicated to providing a complete range of solutions for the SMB, and we're extremely proud that our ReadyNAS unified architecture solves numerous data management problems with a single system, making capacity management, access, backup, restore and disaster recovery worries obsolete. With ReadyNAS, SMB network managers can eliminate common data concerns and revolutionize their storage environment without needing to become an expert.”

Netgear's ReadyNAS 2100 can be configured with 2TB and 4TB of storage, which will be available in a rack-mount form factor. It offers an easy-to-upgrade design and can be used in mixed client environments, providing users with backup and recovery solutions, as well as entry-level server and desktop virtualization. As you might expect, the ReadyNAS 2100 is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac files, enabling support for a wide range of PC users.

The company said that its new ReadyNAS 2100 would be available starting this June for an estimated U.S. street pricing of US$1,899. Initially 2TB and 4TB versions will be available, while an 8TB model is expected to become available later this year.
