Those who enjoy streaming TV shows and movies to their iOS device now have one more reason to download the Netflix app, according to the developers who’ve lately added subtitles support in version 1.3, now available from the App Store.

The Netflix app can be freely downloaded and installed on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Using it, you can instantly watch TV shows & movies streaming from Netflix.

“Introducing Subtitles! Now you can follow the action when watching foreign language content, or when listening to the audio is not possible, such as when working out, or in loud environments,” reads the latest Netflix update.

The new feature has “full support for iOS 4.3.3 and 4.2.8 (Verizon)” Netflix developers say. They also ask users to note that not all content has subtitles.

“If subtitles are available, the caption icon will appear while the movie is playing,” the development team explains. “Pressing this icon will bring up a list of available languages for subtitles for that content.”

You can learn about the Netflix content that has subtitles at this address here.

The service is part of the Netflix unlimited membership. Non-users can start a free trial as soon as today.

The Netflix iOS app allows you to resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer, and you can also use it to browse movies and manage your instant Queue right from your device.

Unfortunately, for those living outside US borders, a valid U.S. mailing address is required to sign up for Netflix.

Netflix offers ‘instant’ Internet video streaming of select titles to platforms running Mac OS X, Windows, and iOS, as well as to other compatible devices.

Although only a portion of Netflix's content is available via the "Watch Instantly" option, Internet video streaming comes at no additional charge with Netflix's regular subscription service.
