Microsoft is undecided

The Xbox 360 currently has the upper hand on its rivals as, despite the very low price it currently has, there are a lot of features that will attract people who might be interested in other consoles like the Wii or PlayStation 3, most important being the Netflix deal that Microsoft made in order for people to view their favorite movies streamed directly to their consoles.

The deal is currently only available in the United States, but seeing just how successful it has become, a lot of analysts are saying that the Redmond software and hardware manufacturer might soon bring it to other territories, with the prime contestant being Europe, where the company hopes to become even more popular and make people forget about the PlayStation 3.

But such a thing is out of the question right now, at least according to UK Xbox 360 boss Neil Thompson, who has revealed to Eurogamer that the Netflix service won't be available in the near future for European users. But although he doesn't reveal anything concrete, he emphasizes the importance that the Old Continent has for Microsoft, so new services will arrive in due time.

“Netflix is a great deal in the US, and we're looking at what we might want to do here in the future,” Thompson says. “But we think the content we're offering is broad-ranging and pretty deep. We have to evolve the live service in different territories at different speeds, depending on what we're able to achieve. But with much of the content and services we provide, Europe's been pretty much at the forefront of what we've been trying to do. There will be evolutions of that service, absolutely, but I'm not going to give you any timelines or specifics.”

So there you have it, European Xbox 360 users, the opportunity to view your favorite movies streamed to your own console won't be available anytime soon. However, if things are going as well as they are now in the United States, Microsoft won't miss out on the chance to make even more money.
