Sony has confirmed that its new PlayStation Vita handheld console will support the Netflix online streaming service, allowing owners to check out its huge amount of movies and TV shows.

Netflix has become a main selling point for home consoles like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii, even reaching the more recent 3DS last year.

Now, Sony has confirmed that the online streaming service will be making its way onto the PlayStation Vita, displaying all of its content through the device’s 5-inch OLED touchscreen.

Just like on other consoles, you need a valid subscription to Netflix in order to enjoy the service but, once you’re all set, you’ll be able to enjoy all sorts of movies and TV shows right on your Vita, not just on your TV at home.

Expect Sony to continue partnering with other online services, like Hulu, in the near future, so that the Vita can increase its array of features.
