NetNewsWire, a popular RSS reader, is now available for the iPad. Submitted by the development team at NewsGator Technologies eight days ago, the recently approved application allows Apple tablet owners to read news from the millions of weblogs and sites that publish RSS feeds. NetNewsWire also syncs with Google Reader, NetNewsWire for Macintosh, the iPhone client, and even with FeedDemon for Windows by NewsGator.

“NetNewsWire for iPad 1.0.3 in App Store shortly,” a post over at netnewswireapp.com reads. “NetNewsWire 1.0.3 for iPad will be in the App Store soon, within the next few hours. (You may see it already.),” the development team adds. “It was submitted 8 days ago — sometimes the review process is a little long. It’s impossible to predict. Obviously, if I could do anything to make it quicker, I would, but it’s entirely in Apple’s hands,” the rest of the post continues in Brackets.

NewsGator then proceeds to list the changes included in the latest version of the application, which appear to concern all supported platforms (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad). New in NetNewsWire 1.0.3 is the ability to sort articles by oldest at the top or newest at the top. Users must check with the NetNewsWire section in Settings to enable this functionality. Performance is somewhat better for people with very large numbers of articles, the developers add. The new version also fixes a bug that could make unread counts for folders incorrect.

Priced at $9.99 and found in the News category of iPad-exclusive applications, NetNewsWire for iPad requires iPhone OS 3.2 or later and no subscription. It weighs in at 2.8MB and is available for immediate download using the link below. Currently, the app supports English only. NewsGator Technologies also develops NewsGator Social Sites (a social-networking app), ScreenDaily, Variety and Brad Feld (other news apps).
