14 DAY TRIAL // Piggyback ridding on Windows Vista's success, Nero AG is now flaunting a new version of its digital media creation and playback solution optimized for Microsoft's latest Windows client. On stage at 2008 International CES on January 6th, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates revealed that Vista had passed the 100 million install base milestone in 2007. And Nero 8 is sure to ride the Vista wave as the Karlsbad, Germany-based company is exhibiting a new version of its suite tailored on the Redmond company's operating system.
"Windows Vista is a crucial component in the next chapter of digital home technology. We worked with Microsoft to ensure that the Nero 8 software suite is an extension of the already strong foundation of the Windows Vista operating system. Windows Vista optimization adds significant value to Nero 8, providing enhancements that help meet the digital media needs of our users", revealed Udo Eberlein, chief operating officer, Nero AG.
And of course that CES 2008 is the stage where Nero AG will showcase the Windows Vista-enhanced Nero 8 software suite. In fact, the latest Vista-oriented version of Nero 8 will be on display in the Microsoft booth at the International Consumer Electronics Show. While essentially the suite is nothing more than the RTM version of Nero 8 dropped on October 1st, 2007, the fact of the matter is that the company has thrown a little bit extra on top of the original contents of the multimedia package. However, there is no word yet from Nero as to when or if the Vista optimized Nero 8 will ship to general consumers.
"Specific Windows Vista-optimized enhancements to Nero 8 include: Nero DiscCopy gadget - gives users the ability to copy a disc with just one click and rests in the Windows Vista Sidebar, making it fast and simple to move content. Nero RichPreview - easily browse and preview audio, video and images without opening it. Previews can be completed via Windows Explorer and/or the Nero FileOpenDialogue within Windows Vista. And Live Icons - this feature streamlines the user's ability to quickly view content with enhanced browsing of thumbnails, support for a wide range of multimedia files and the embedded album art for Nero Digital audio files", Nero AG explained.
