One more patch to correct the reported flaws

Following a recent vulnerability discovered in OpenOffice.org, many of the Office suites out there, which are based on the main OpenOffice package, are also affected by the same glitch. NeoOffice is just an example, as the 2.2.2 version without Patch 4 installed is vulnerable to attacks because of the same OpenOffice issue. Secunia rated the flaw as moderately critical and advised the users to download and install the patch as soon as possible.

The official page of the patch reveals numerous changes coming into the package, including one that addresses the OpenOffice glitch. The developers have "closed an OpenOffice.org Base security vulnerability", it is stated on the website.

For those of you who don't know, NeoOffice is one of the best freeware solutions for Mac OS X when it comes to Office suite, because it takes the power of OpenOffice.org on Apple's systems. NeoOffice was designed by Planamesa Software, being based on the Java technology, powered by Sun Microsystems. It includes a word processor, a spreadsheet utility, a presentation program and some other useful utilities. As I've said, NeoOffice can be used for free by all the consumers, many of them seeing the suite of tools as the perfect replacement for other expensive (Microsoft Office for Mac) or not fully compatible (OpenOffice for Mac) technologies.

As far I am concerned, I was pretty amazed by the power of NeoOffice. I've been using the application for almost 1 year, day by day, and it worked quite fine. No errors, no bugs, no crashes. As it is able to work with most formats compatible with today's Office suites, NeoOffice can replace any other expensive technology, without losing too many functions included in these products.

In case you want to download the latest NeoOffice version, as well as the latest patch, you can take it straight from Softpedia.
