The popular, open source Mac productivity suite, NeoOffice, has reached version 3.2.1 with support for some of the key features inside Apple’s OS X Lion, including Full-Screen Mode, Resume, and Versions.

NeoOffice is a fully-featured set of office applications for Mac OS X, comprising word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and drawing programs.

NeoOffice boasts dozens of native Mac features and can import, edit, and exchange files with other popular productivity programs, including Microsoft’s famous Office suite.

A new Trinity forum post signed Patrick, Fran, Ed, and Tim - The NeoOffice Team - reads: “We are pleased to announce the release of NeoOffice 3.2.1.”

“NeoOffice 3.2.1 can be downloaded by all NeoOffice donors who have donated US$10 (or €7 or £6 or CA$10 or AU$10 or ¥834) or more within the last year from the NeoOffice download page,” the team informs.

According to the changelog, “NeoOffice 3.2.1 adds new features for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion users such as Versions; Full-Screen mode; Resume.”

The wording used by the NeoOffice team (‘such as’) in order to describe the contents of this update indicates there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the latest version of the productivity suite targeting generous donors.

As usual, Mac users who want to download a free version of NeoOffice will be able to do so by grabbing version 3.1.2 (or older).

NeoOffice is a free productivity suite derived from the popular OpenOffice suite available on Windows and Linux systems since the dawn of time.

OpenOffice is also available for Mac, but the suite doesn’t feel at home on a Mac as NeoOffice does, even though the former has long been rid of the dependencies to X11 - the graphical environment for UNIX applications.
