14 DAY TRIAL // The fine folks at NeoOffice.org have updated their popular office application suite for Mac OS X with a new patch. NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 4 delivers enhancements and bug fixes and is recommended for all users of NeoOffice 3.0. NeoOffice 2.2.5 is now at its 12th patch. The changelog for the latest version of the office suite reveals that the program’s developers were able to find a way to improve the menu display speed. Speed improvements across any OS and its supported applications are always welcome. As for the bug fixes, NeoOffice.org has addressed the following issues:
· Fixed a bug where cropped EPS images did not appear in slide shows. · Fixed a problem where the Media Browser cannot keep focus when Java 1.4 is used. · Fixed an issue where NeoOffice could crash after pressing Command-Z.
“Volunteers are continually testing NeoOffice and, as they find bugs, we fix them as fast as we can,” the people at NeoOffice say. “Since a full NeoOffice release is a very large download, we post smaller 'patch' installers that only install the NeoOffice files that we have fixed since the last release.”
NeoOffice is based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, integrating native Mac features. The full-featured set of office applications boasts the ability to import, edit and exchange files with other office programs. Most Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are supported, as well as Excel VBA Macros. The software requires that you have at least 512 MB of memory and 400 MB of free disk space.
NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 4 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 3.0 and will not install on any previous version of NeoOffice. The patch includes all fixes and additions of previous patches. Similarly, NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 12 can only be installed over an installed copy of NeoOffice 2.2.5.
