14 DAY TRIAL // The people at NeoOffice.org have updated the powerful office suite for Mac OS X with two separate patches, one for the 3.0 release, and one for the old 2.2.5 version of NeoOffice. Most changes have been incorporated in both patches and simultaneously released. Users can update to the latest version of NeoOffice right here on Softpedia.
“Since we released NeoOffice 3.0 two weeks ago, we have been spending most of our time fixing any critical bugs reported by our users,” one of the developers behind NeoOffice writes on trinity.neooffice.org, the bulletin board for the NeoOffice community. “We have fixed those bugs and we have included those fixes in NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 1,” the post continues.
“Also, because many of the bugs found in NeoOffice 3.0 also existed in NeoOffice 2.2.5, we integrated the matching NeoOffice 3.0 bug fix into NeoOffice 2.2.5 and we have included all of these integrated fixes in NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 9,” pluby outlines, posting a list of the bugs that have been fixed in both patches. Those include:
- Occasional deadlocks in menu update; - xls file causes crash when opened on PowerPC; - Carriage returns are copied instead of newlines; - Drawing artifacts remain when dragging tabs in rulers; - NeoOffice fails to launch on Snow Leopard; - Font ascent sometimes returns zero.
NeoOffice is based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, integrating native Mac features. The full-featured set of office applications boasts the ability to import, edit and exchange files with other office programs. Most Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are supported, as well as Excel VBA Macros. The software requires that you have at least 512 MB of memory and 400 MB of free disk space.
NeoOffice 2.2.5 Patch 9 requires a full installation of NeoOffice 2.2.5 and will not install on any previous version of NeoOffice. The patch includes all fixes and additions of previous patches. Similarly, NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 1 can only be installed over NeoOffice 3.0.
