It's a bit anticlimactic, since we've been waiting for this for years, but Voyager 1 has officially left the solar system.

In fact, it left the solar system more than a year ago, but NASA wanted to get concrete evidence before making the announcement.

Scientists are convinced though, based on the data from the probe, that Voyager 1 is floating in interstellar space.

To celebrate the event, NASA put together a video with messages from people like astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Star Trek's Wil Wheaton, and Levar Burton, as well as several members of the Voyager mission.

The creator of the Golden Record, which contains recordings of Earth sounds, songs, and voices, along with a few of the people who lent their voices to the recording, like Carl Sagan's son, are also present.
