Mac and iOS customers can now download a multitude of apps and games through Apple’s App Stores at a discount, thanks to their generous developers who decided to either make them free, or drop their original price considerably in celebration of Independence Day.

One attractive iPad app that saw developer Electronic Arts discount its purchase by as much as 90% is Need for Speed Shift for iPad.

In fact, it’s part of the biggest EA games sale ever. The renowned development and publishing label has cut the price on dozens of its games on the App Store.

In Need for Speed Shift, “the expansive iPad screen gives a hyper-real in-car cockpit POV and a brutal first-person crash dynamic. You’ll really see why this is the most visceral racing game on the App Store,” the company notes.

NFS Shift features 28 cars, including 8 exclusive vehicles (like the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, Koenigsegg CCX, Lexus LF-A Concept, and Nissan GT-R R35),

Thanks to the iPad’s powerful A4 chip, NFS Shift delivers physics-based, accelerated HD graphics.

On the iPad 2, which features the more powerful A5 chip with two cores and nine times the graphical performance of its predecessor, the game should look even crisper.

“Achieve unmatched driving control, with rear and side view mirrors, manual acceleration, and visual brake pedal and shift gears,” the description continues.

The game also features 18 International tracks from Chicago, London, Tokyo, in both day and night conditions.

“See and feel roaring engines, squealing tires, and crunching collisions. Above all, get speed, speed, and more speed!”, EA adds.

Multiple players can race together in local WiFi or live Bluetooth Multiplayer game modes.

NFS Shift for iOS is compatible with iPad only and requires version 3.2 of the operating system (the minimum available for iPads).
