Apple expands its stores with new services for their customers

Apple is greeting its customers this holiday season with some new enhancements within its retail stores. These enhancements have the sole purpose of addressing customer interest in the Mac line more efficiently and basically, aiding him in choosing what is best for him.

Ever been in a store, just looking at some products, and when you wanted to address a question to someone from the staff you had to look for him / her through the whole building? Or did you start making funny gestures to get someone's attention so that you could ask him something about the specific product you are interested in?

It seems that Apple knows what it is like and just days before its "Black Friday" shopping spree, it introduced "Rhonda". Apparently, in naming this service, Apple was inspired by Beach Boys' track "Help me Rhonda" and if that is the case, someone needs some new CDs. Rhonda is a software assistant that will be installed on every desktop of all Mac computers on display at Apple retail stores and will provide customers with the possibility of clicking on a portion of the screen to summon help from and authorized Apple sales person on the retail store floor.

Basically, you go, look around, and if you need an authorized Apple sales person, you click on the specified portion of the screen and the Rhonda software will illuminate the Mac's display screen in bright green so that it will attract the attention of the nearest Mac specialist who will greet you with milk and cookies. Ok, the milk and cookies part is false but the "Rhonda" idea is a pretty good one if you ask me.

As AppleInsider reports, Apple will introduce along with Rhonda a new retail process called a "Two-minute Test Drive". The concise overview will help facilitate to potential Mac customers the many strong points of the Mac platform, including such aspects as a quick Microsoft Word demo.

And this is not it either. Apple has another service lined up. Ever saw some PC users that when it comes to Apple they think a Mac is some kind of alien technology that is not meant for human kind and they just have absolutely no idea of what a Mac is or what it does? Well I've seen plenty of those and that is why I think Apple's next idea is pretty good.

Apple will begin offering a new complimentary service starting this week. This service is called "Mac Talk" and is aimed at potential Mac buyers. AppleInsider says that, essentially, this is an extension of the company's ProCare services, the only deference being that it is aimed at non-Mac users. Mac Talk offers shoppers the opportunity to schedule up to a one hour appointment with an in-store Mac specialist to learn about the Mac platform before making their computer purchases. Customers interested in the service can simply swing by their local Apple retail store and request a Mac Talk card that will allow them to schedule the free consultation.

People familiar with the service say that this is not just a one time thing and that Apple will extend upon the concept by allowing customers to schedule a one-on-one appointment with a Mac specialist before the store even opens for business.

AppleInsider writes that the Mac specialist will act as the customer's 'personal shopper', touring the traffic-free retail store, answering questions and offering buying advice to meet the customer's needs, those same people say.
