One of the most talked about franchises in the last few weeks was Electronic Arts' Need For Speed racing one, which, although rumored for cancellation and the staff at EA Black Box to be fired, saw the announcement of not one but four new titles that would appear this year.

As we reported these things a lot of fans began to worry that EA would start milking this franchise in order to get a bigger profit out of it and to escape the troubled financial times that it has experienced in the last few months. But such a thing won't happen and the NFS titles will all benefit from full support from the company, according to Scott Nielsen, the producer of the latest game in the series, Need For Speed Undercover.

He recently talked with NFSPlanet about the franchise and, more importantly, about the fact that Undercover would receive a patch this week, in order to address the pretty big number of problems that fans have encountered while playing the racing game. In our own review we experienced a lot of freezes despite the fact that our test computer was more than capable of running the game at full specifications, so this patch will be more than welcomed.

“The 1st patch for NFS Undercover features a series of performance optimizations to address frame rate inconsistencies and enhancements to the adaptive difficulty logic to accelerate the difficulty curve for the expert players. The patch should be available for download during the second week of February. Keep watching our website for updates on the exact time and dates. I can tell you that we are definitely going to be supporting Undercover with additional content over the coming months. As I mentioned before, this is the start of a new way that we’re going to be predictably and consistently supporting our titles post-launch going forward.”

So there you have it NFS fans, a patch will be soon unveiled and a lot of problems will be fixed. Hopefully this will make the game a bit more attractive for people who haven't purchased it and were a bit deterred by the amount of problems they saw in various reviews.
