The Need for Speed racing franchise is set to get a serious boost in popularity with the launch of the upcoming Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, a title developed by Criterion Studios, which will see a demo released on October 26.

The NFS series has been in a slump lately, and was revived a bit with last year's NFS Shift title, coming from Slightly Mad Studios.

Now though, Criterion wants to really kick start the racing franchise and is reinventing one of its classic trademarks, police chases.

Players will get a chance to experience the new title thanks to a demo set to be released on October 26, although no other details were revealed.

After seeing three gameplay videos last week, which showcased the Autolog online feature that will chart the player's progress as well as his friends', EA has released another exclusive video with its new racing game.

This time, it's all about the police chase and  the exclusive cars that will be available in NFS Hot Pursuit.

We first get a glimpse at the Porsche 918 Spyder prototype, which was just unveiled at the beginning of the year as a hybrid supercar.

The European exotic is first chased by a pretty regular Dodge Challenger R/T police car, but that is soon replaced by a brand new McLaren MP4-12C supercar, which looks extremely well in the black and white police decals.

We once again see the spike strips as well as the helicopters that the police can use during a chase, while the boost features for the illegal racers are also revealed.

Seeing as how the game is made by the same studio that brought us the Burnout franchise, destruction plays a big role in the chases, as racers can ram into opponents while the police can use their beefed up rides to take down the criminals.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is set to arrive for the PC, PlayStation , Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii in North America on November 16, and in Europe on November 19.
