14 DAY TRIAL // “Glee” star Naya Rivera and rapper Big Sean are both officially back on the market after calling off their engagement and upcoming nuptials. The rapper confirms the news for fans in a statement to Us Weekly, stressing that he was the one who called it off.
“After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off. The recent rumors and accusations reported by so called or fake sources are simply untrue. Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter,” a rep for the rapper says.
The “recent rumors and accusations reported” refer to the reason why they called off all wedding plans, namely that he had cheated on her and got caught.
Naya and Big Sean started dating last April and were engaged by October. Besides being lovers, they were also collaborators, with the rapper appearing on her debut single outside “Glee.” Word is they were still working together when he decided to call off the engagement.
And here’s where the gossip gets even juicier: insiders tell TMZ that, indeed, there is no truth to the speculation that Big Sean slept around on Naya. Instead, he decided he wanted some time off, at the very least, because she was too controlling, too jealous, and too clingy, and it was sucking the life out of the romance.
Considering that Big Sean is often on tour and, as most rappers, is always surrounded by beautiful women, Naya’s jealousy fits became too much for him, especially since he’d been nothing but faithful to her.
TMZ also has a screenshot of a tweet that was posted on Naya’s feed, in which she accuses her now-ex of stealing a Rolex from her. The message has been deleted since, but it read, “@bigsean stealing Rolexes from a lady’s house now. Maybe cuz I’m on Glee and making more money or something. #triflin.”
The e-zine claims to have it on good authority that a Rolex did go missing, but it wasn’t “stolen”: Big Sean had bought it for himself but he gave it to Naya to wear. It wasn’t a gift per se, more of a loaner, insiders claim; so, when they broke up, before leaving, he simply took what was his.
Naya is yet to address the breakup or the cheating / theft rumors.
