Since the economic crisis the world is going through will force customers to be very careful with what products they purchase and to be constantly looking for the best possible bargain, most consumer electronics manufacturers are changing their design and marketing strategies, providing a wider range of features in entry-level models. That's also the case with Navigon, which has just announced two new PNDs, the 5100 max and 2090S, both of which offer just about everything a user might need to safely find his/her way to the desired destination.

The 5100 max is the more advanced (and expensive) of the two models. It's been equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 16:9 aspect ratio, which is used for viewing the NAVIGON FreshMaps navigation maps. It's really interesting to mention here that the company is providing up to eight quarterly map updates spanning two years, which means that users won't have to worry about the accuracy of their maps in the near future.

Other interesting features provided by the 5100 max are the Reality View Pro, which displays 3D views with road sign text and lane guidance for virtually every highway interchange and exit, as well as an advanced text-to-speech system, plus a Bluetooth module, which allows users to turn the PND into a full-fledged speakerphone for their vehicle.

Furthermore, it offers the Lane Assistant Pro function, which helps drivers prepare to make an upcoming exit or turn by providing clear visual lane guidance, and it also comes with free real-time traffic updates for the entire functioning life of the device.

The 2090S is a slightly slimmed-down version of the 5100 max, featuring a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, as well as Reality View Pro, Advanced Text-to-speech, NAVIGON FreshMaps, Lane Assistant Pro and Fast Destination Entry with latest generation of software.

As mentioned right from the start, the 5100 max and 2090S will be available, at least for the time being, solely from RadioShack, and will retail for 299 and 199 US dollars, respectively.
