A representative of developer Naughty Dog has stated that the team working on the Uncharted franchise is pleased with Neil Burger taking over the director mode for the movie and with the attention to detail the production team has been showing.

Speaking to Eurogamer Richard Lemarchand, who is the co-lead designer working at Naughty Dog, has said, “We’ve been impressed at Naughty Dog with the level of interest they’ve shown in talking to us and to Amy in particular in order to get it right. The attachment of Neil Burger to the project is a very good sign in that regard.”

He added, “I’ve always been very excited about it. I’m interested in this concept of transmedia, perhaps because of the kind of media environment I grew up in, that we all grew up in. I’m a big Doctor Who and Star Wars fan. You have the primary thing, which is the TV show or the movies, but then you extend your enjoyment by re-experiencing those story worlds through these other channels.”

Lemarchand has said that the studio has been studying movie techniques for some time in order to learn which ones could be used in the video game world and how they can be transformed in order to create compelling gameplay mechanics.

The developer at Naughty Dog says that Uncharted has long been seen as one of the most cinematic and character based action games in the video game world and that the team will continue to try and push that angle in the upcoming Drake's Deception.

Sony has been working with Naughty Dog on the Uncharted franchise, using it to show off the hardware power of the PlayStation 3 home console.

Drake's Deception is set to be launched on November 1 in the United States and one day later on the European market.
