Naughty Dog, the developer behind last year's phenomenally successful The Last of Us, is still unsure about ideas like a sequel for the game or an adaptation for the PlayStation 4 console.

The Last of Us delighted millions of PS3 owners worldwide when it appeared for the console, delivering a survival experience with a great story and a good multiplayer mode.

Now, ahead of the launch of the first and only story-based DLC for the title, Left Behind, Director Neil Druckmann talked with Eurogamer about any future plans for the series.

"We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP – we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP. So we have to get some good steps and see," he said.

"It's kind of like how we approached Left Behind. Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself? And if we can't, where can we get inspired – what is something that's really going to challenge us, and push storytelling in this medium forward?"

Naughty Dog has two internal teams and, while one is currently busy with Uncharted 4 for the PS4, rumors appeared about a possible port of The Last of Us for the console, seeing as how the second team is without a project.

Druckmann, however, is being coy about where the studio will allocate its resources.

"We have such limited resources, and it's a question of where you put the resources," Druckmann said. "It's something where we can have a feel of where the demand is, and where our time is best spent. It's something that we'll figure out as we move forward."

Previous reports have deemed The Last of Us for PS4 a certainty, so it's possible that Sony and Naughty Dog will make an announcement at a big event in the future.
