Last year, Hollywood star and budding filmmaker Natalie Portman sold her Manhattan condo for an estimated $7 million. She is now ready to move to one of the most beautiful and secluded enclaves in Los Angeles, having just purchased a 1930s-era house that suits her personality and stylish tastes exquisitely, as Just Jared informs, citing InTouch magazine.

The historic property, which is described as a “castle-like” construction, is not as impressively big as the mansions celebrities usually buy. Then again, one might as well say, it’s not like Portman is the kind of star that would willingly draw attention to herself, as all her fans must know by now. In this sense, the new, four-bedroom residence is ideal for a life away from the maddening crowd, as they say. The estate also includes a private courtyard and two guest houses, which are perfect for when friends or the family come to visit.

“Natalie wanted a property that had character and integrity, something that was special.” Richard Stanley, a Coldwell Banker real estate agent in LA, specializing in architectural and historic properties, tells InTouch. “This house is perfect for her. It’s a beautiful home and truly is something special. It’s the trophy home of the neighborhood.” Stanley adds. The photos included in the print issue of the same magazine show that, indeed, the $3-million house is a little jewel that stands in a league of its own.

As also noted above, while Natalie Portman likes to keep her residence as discrete as possible, other stars are the exact opposite of that. Just recently, for instance, Gwyneth Paltrow, who lives in London with her husband Chris Martin, frontman of Coldplay, started the restoration of the house next door to the family residence, with the purpose of joining the two together and getting a 33-room supermansion, whose total value has already been estimated at around £7 million.

“Pictures submitted with a planning application show the couple’s garden with a slide for daughter Apple, five, and son Moses, three. Plans show they intend to knock through the connecting walls to create eight rooms on the lower ground floor, six on the upper ground, five on the first floor and eight on the second floor. A two-storey extension at the side of the existing house includes a gym, changing room, three bedrooms and a bathroom.” the British publication the Daily Mail wrote a short while back.
