Shin'en has just announced a Nanostray followup, its DS shooter title that was released last year. Nanostray 2 will include "many new features and elements which have never been used in its genre." It wouldn't be a DS game, should developers not mention "innovative touch screen features". Players viewed the original touch screen features to be rather hard to use, especially when a switch of weapons was required. WiFi connectivity over the internet has also been confirmed, further enhancing gameplay as shoot-em-up games often enough spell multiplayer.

"Shin'en again raises the bar for high quality games with never-seen-before graphics, awesome audio and innovative gameplay on the Nintendo DS", said Manfred Linzner, Shin'en Project Manager.

While Nanostray is a shooter and not an epic RPG, developers appear to be content with gameplay duration. Although in this genre the replay value comes from perfecting one's high scores, fans argue the title was exceedingly short, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction behind. While details about the new control scheme are yet unknown, Shin'en promises more info and the first screenshots within the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for the official web site at Nanostray2.com.
