NanoSensors, Inc, a nanotechnology development company that creates instruments and sensors to detect explosives, chemical and biological agents, today announced that it has initiated an evaluation on a generic biosensor design which will accommodate a sensor on a chip.

"A preliminary industrial design of a biosensor product has started. The design includes the electronic package for housing the sensor, the technique for mounting the sensor into the housing and the procedure for assembling the device. The process details to functionalize the sensor to detect specific agents and then finally a technique for protecting the sensor assembly after the functionalization process are being developed," said the company.

The prototypes of this generic biosensor design will be built by year-end and the schedule for independent third-party testing of these prototypes is in the first quarter of 2007.

NanoSensors, Inc. was incorporated in December, 2003, and is a nanotechnology development company based in Santa Clara, California which main activity is the development, manufacturing and marketing of sensors and instruments to detect explosive (X), chemical (C) and biological (B) agents ("XCB"), along with the management of intellectual property derived there from that will enable NanoSensors to create nanoscale devices.

If you are interested in nanotechnology, you should know that you could attend Europe's largest nanotechnology event - the NTNE - which will take place next year, 27-29 March 2007, in the northern Capital of Finland - Helsinki.

NTNE2007 is held in parallel with ChemBio Finland 07, combining the Northern Europe's largest nanotechnology event with the region's most significant event in the biotechnology and chemistry domains.

The key debate themes of NTNE2007 will be application driven, focusing on nanoelectronics and photonics solutions, nanomaterials and nanoparticles for diagnostics and biomaterials, and safety of nanotechnology products. Furthermore, leading instrument and tool manufacturers will showcase the latest developments in measurement equipment and software solutions.
