Video game publisher Namco Bandai has announced that it has managed to have some pretty good financial results for the 2011 fiscal year, which ended on March 31 for the company, with total sales for reaching 394.1 billion Yen, which is about 4.88 billion dollars, an increase of more than 4 percent over the previous year.

The company has also managed to make a small profit during the year, of about 1,848 billion Yen, the equivalent of 22.9 million dollars, an improvement over the 370 million dollars in losses than were reported around this time during 2010.

The video games focused segment of the company, which creates titles for consoles, handhelds and for arcade cabinets, has done particularly well, managing to boost its profit and sell more than the Toys and Hobby division, which has historically performed better.

The most important video game for Namco Bandai during the last fiscal year has been Tekken 6, the fighting game that was initially launched in 2009, with sales of more than 1.15 million copies during the period.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 has also managed to sell well, passing the 1 million sales threshold while Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, based on the well-known animation series, has been the third best title for Namco Bandai with sales of 830,000 copies.

Enslaved: Oddysey to the West managed to get sales of 730,000 units, which is rather low when taking into account the fact that it was specifically designed and marketed in order to appeal to mainstream Western audiences.

For the future Namco Bandai plans to focus on delivering video games for the PlayStation 3 from Sony when it comes to home console and the Nintendo and Sony line up of handhelds.

The company plans to launch just one game in the coming year on the Xbox 360, which is not performing well in Japan.
