A number of websites belonging to the Nagorno-Karabakh government have been defaced by Azerbaijani hackers of the Anti-Armenia Team.

According to HackRead, the targeted sites belong to the Nagorno-Karabakh Police (police.nkr.am), the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (mss.nkr.am), the State Tax Service (tax.nkr.am), the Ministry of Sports (sport.nkr.am), and the Ministry of Urban Development (mud.nkr.am).

The cyber operation has been carried out in support of Azerbaijan in the country’s territorial dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a de facto independent state. Internationally, it’s recognized as belonging to Azerbaijan, which hasn’t exercised power over most of the region for over 20 years.

After the Nagorno-Karabakh War ended in 1994, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been holding peace talks on the region’s disputed status.

Currently, some of the attacked websites have been restored, while others have been taken offline.
