Nadya Suleman, also known to the public as OctoMom, gave birth to octuplets in January this year. The eight newborns, together with the other six young children Suleman has at home, have not stopped her, though, from getting back to her pre-pregnancy figure. What’s more, she didn’t even resort to the help of plastic surgery, which is why she can now boast of a weight loss of 145 pounds by will power alone, as she tells Us Magazine in a recent interview.

When she was pregnant with octuplets, Suleman weighed 270 pounds, she reveals. After giving birth, she automatically dropped 40 pounds as the babies were taken out. Suleman also relies on what she likes to call her “skinny genes” to revert back to shape after delivering a baby, but, after the octuplets, it became clear that she also needed to do something else in this sense. So, she started working out.

The problem with a mother of 14, all kids under eight, is that she has little time for herself as they are a handful, Suleman says. Desperate to find some time to work out, she decided late-night sessions at the gym were the only way possible, so she now goes to break a sweat for 90 minutes three times a week, precisely at midnight. Furthermore, since running after the children around the house makes for more than plenty of cardio, while she’s at the gym, she focuses on improving strength.

“Instantly erasing 40 pounds after delivering her octuplets, Suleman says she felt compelled to join a local gym after their birth. There, she fits in thrice-weekly midnight workouts (while a nanny watches over her sleeping children) with strength training but no cardio. ‘I get enough of that with the kids,’ Suleman, who gets by on three hours of sleep, tells Us. But don’t think workouts alone got the 5-foot-7 mom down to 125 lbs. – Suleman maintains a strict diet, too.” Us Magazine writes of Suleman’s secret for such an amazing figure, so little after giving birth to octuplets.

The diet means eating five protein-packed meals or snacks daily, which are meant to ensure she gets enough energy to make it through the day – and well into the night, it would seem. Most important of all, though, is that Suleman managed to accomplish this somewhat amazing feat (many have speculated she got a lot of help from plastic surgery to regain her figure) all on her own, she stresses.
