You can choose your own materials and colors for five separate chassis components

Case makers often offer their prospective buyers a choice of colors, or between a side panel with a window or no window, but NZXT decided to take things one step further when it made the Phantom 240 Special Edition Colors.

The name does a fair job of implying what the newcomers have what their various peers do not, but only to an extent.

NZXT took a pretty hands-on approach here. Hands-on for its customers, not itself, since it's the possible buyers that have the final say on design.

You see, user choices, like aesthetic tastes and size preferences, are pretty important when it comes to the desktop case.

CPUs and graphics cards are pretty well ranked, performance-wise, and their looks are a distant second to performance in terms of importance.

The case is what you and your friends actually see when you look at a computer though. So NZXT has decided to let you choose exactly what yours will look like.

You won't get to select any weird patterns or logos, but you should have five separate case components to customize by color and material.

Sadly, this isn't a case of customize-by-order. More like NZXT is tapping the market to see which combinations would be most popular.

To that end, it has launched a campaign through which users can choose from those materials and colors, until three combinations stand out.

The two Phantom 240 Special Edition Colors will be joined by a “wildcard winner.” The former pair will be chosen based on votes, the third will be NZXT's own choice (still from among user proposals though).

The ones responsible for the winning designs will receive some goodies to go along with a free Laser Etched Phantom 240: an NZXT Kraken CPU Cooler, an HALE82 V2 700W PSU (power supply unit), a Shine 3 Mechanical Keyboard, an a Sentry 3 fan controller.

After all, if you're going to build a gaming PC, why not give it every advantage you can? These accessories may not be necessary, but they can be quite useful when you want to calibrate your computer for silence or high performance.

Unfortunately, NZXT has not specified the prices of the Phantom 240 Special Edition Colors chassis, but it should be the same as for the default white one, which is sold for $69.99 / €69.99. If you're up for it, you can visit the Phantom 240 creator and submit an idea.
