After several delays

NVIDIA's upcoming Intel-supporting IGP chipset has been delayed several times until now. Of course, this statement is true only if we also take into account the many rumors that surfaced in the meanwhile, indicating that the MCP7A IGP chipset was about to be rolled out on the market. To add more fuel to the fire, recent reports indicate that the Santa Clara-based chip maker is finally giving the green light to its latest chipset, with an official release set to take place by the end of this month.

While this could very well be yet another unfounded rumor, or simply plain wishful thinking, sources from motherboard makers tell Digitimes that the green company should soon unveil the details for the Intel-supporting MCP7A chipset. Apparently, the company will officially introduce the IGP chipset by the end of September, which means that, by sometime in October, users will finally be able to get their hands on the new MCP7A-equipped motherboards. This could also confirm the recently leaked details and pictures of MSI and ECS mobos.

As a reminder, the new MCP7A is expected to come in two flavors, namely the MCP7A-U that will sport the GeForce 9400 graphics core, and the MCP7A-S that will come with the graphics power  of GeForce 9300. However, the two versions of the chipset will feature the same technical specifications, except for the graphics cores. The GeForce 9400 is expected to boast a core frequency of 580MHz, while the Shaders will run at 1500MHz. The GeForce 9300-enabled board will come with a core speed of 450MHz, while the Shader frequency will run at a cool 1200MHz.

For the time being, no details on the pricing of either chipset have been made available but, if the rumors are true, then we should see a bunch of new MCP7A-enabled boards being released on the market pretty soon. As mentioned above, by sometime in October, users could finally have the chance to get their hands on the new Intel-supporting motherboards.
