The new tablet from NVIDIA was announced a few months back

Back in early February, NVIDIA announced a new version of its popular Tegra Note 7 tablet, one that will come equipped with the LTE functionality.

A short while after the announcement was made, the chip maker showcased the slate at MWC 2014 in Barcelona.

But, since then, we haven’t heard anything about the availability of the device. Now, it appears that the Tegra Note 7 LTE will arrive in the US shortly, as the device was just spotted clearing the FCC.

The new slate will be compatible with LTE networks from popular carriers around the world, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone, and Orange.

Interestingly enough, the tablet that was submitted for approval with the FCC goes by the name NVIDIA Tegra Note 7C. The “C” probably stands for Connectivity or something similar, although we’re not exactly sure what at the moment.

The slate comes with the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities, but on top of that it bundles support for LTE, HSPA+, and Edge networks in Europe and the US.

The new LTE model will be made available soon and, when it is launched, it will take customers back about $299 / €216, which means you’ll have to pay $100 / €72 extra for the 3G/4G capabilities.

Now, for a quick spec roundup, the Wi-Fi-only model arrived with a 7-inch IPS display boasting a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Under the hood, pumping life into the device, lies a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Other specifications include microSD card, micro HDMI port, and two cameras (5MP on the back and 0.3MP in front).

The LTE model will arrive running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but the Wi-Fi model recently got the update as well.

Sadly, NVIDIA didn’t bump things up in the resolution department but, as far as we know, the company is testing a full HD version of the Tegra Note7 too, one that runs the new Tegra K1 processor that was unveiled at MWC 2014.

The reference tablet was also showcased in Barcelona. The K1 processor is based on ARM Cortex A15 architecture, clocked up to 2.3GHz. The reference design was fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The tablet scored 38,323 points in the AnTuTu benchmark, while the Tegra K1 has managed to reach 41,000 points in full clock mode, so this will be a pretty exciting “little” tablet.
