We've seen a Supermicro server equipped with NVIDIA's GeForce GRID graphics cards, and then IBM, HP and Dell announced similar product releases.

What we never really found out was the price of the GRID cards K1 and K2.

We still don't exactly know them, since they are sold on a contract basis to large corporations.

NVIDIA does have a sort of "standard" GRID package though, called NVIDIA GRID VCA (Visual Computing Appliance). It has 8 or 16 GPUs and 192/384 GB of RAM.

The latter will need customers to contact NVIDIA for negotiations. The former sells for $24,900 / 19,254 – 24,900 Euro. There is a $2,400 / 1,855-2,400 yearly software license to cover as well.

Design studios with enough artists and staff may or may not find the terms reasonable.

"NVIDIA GRID VCA is the first product to provide businesses with convenient, on-demand visual computing," said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and chief executive officer, NVIDIA.
