A new executive vice president and chief financial officer has been chosen by NVIDIA, one that most recently served Cisco's Business Technology and Operations Finance organization for three years as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Experience can be a tricky thing, but it's generally something that all high-scale companies look for in their employees, especially those in their leading staff.

After all, if you've been at something for many years and are still going strong without getting fired, you must be doing something right.

Colette Kress is one person that has been handling the money of her employers for years, or really decades.

After all, she's been at this for 24 years, which is over half her life (she is 46 years of age).

Before Cisco, she worked at Microsoft for 13 years, four years as chief financial officer of the server and tools division and the rest in other senior roles in corporate planning and finance.

Her B.Sc. degree in Finance from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Southern Methodist University came in handy in all those situations.

"We have searched extensively for the right candidate and are thrilled to have Colette join us," said Jen-Hsun Huang, NVIDIA's president and CEO (chief executive officer).

"She brings fantastic experience, excellent financial management skills and deep industry knowledge to NVIDIA. Colette will be a great asset as we work to extend our global leadership in visual computing, mobile and the cloud. I want to thank Karen Burns for her truly outstanding work as interim CFO as we conducted our search."

Kress will be reporting directly to Huang from now on and will be responsible for all money handling. Right now, NVIDIA is in a short period of relaxation, but it won't last long. Given the approach of new GPU and the Logan Tegra platform, she will definitely be challenged starting next year (2014).
