A new flavor of NOOK for Android was made available for download, namely version 2.4, which comes to mobile phones with a nice range of enhancements over the previously available versions.

According o Barnes & Noble, the new flavor of their mobile application for Google's Android operating system should offer users the possibility to easily browse through their catalog of books, while also enabling them to make purchases right from the software solution.

NOOK for Android v2.4 adds makes it even easier for customers to quickly browse and download new great reads from the NOOKbook Store with in-app shopping,” the company notes.

“Browse more than 2 million digital NOOKbooks and more from the NOOK for Android app, and with a couple of taps, your title or sample is downloaded and ready to read on your Android smartphone or across the complete line of NOOK devices and software.”

At the same time, the company notes that the newly updated NOOK for Android mobile application comes to handsets with the ability to take notes on any book they might be reading at any time.

“The updated NOOK for Android also gives customers the ability to take notes and make highlights in their NOOKbooks. These highlights and notes will also sync on other NOOK apps and devices,” the company explains.

“We’ll continue to provide you with news of NOOK device and software updates,” the company added.

We should also note that the release of this update for NOOK for Android application was accompanied by the release of a new software for the company's NOOK eReader, which was just updated to firmware version 1.5.
