Electronic Arts' Need For Speed franchise has been a staplemark of the racing game genre for quite some time, ever since the first title arrived from EA Canada many years ago. Since then, we've been host to a variety of NFS titles, each one aiming to improve the recipe of its predecessors but also bring new things to the series.

That is why this year EA will release three new NFS games, each trying to cater to a specific niche of gamers in order to please and get the money from everyone. Out of the three, NFS Shift is one of the most promising, as it tries to blend hardcore driving simulator mechanics with fun arcade experiences in one single package.

A lot of details have been revealed about the game, from its exclusive Driver Profile system, which will track almost every action of the player and reflect it in the behavior of single player AI, to a top-notch multiplayer mode that will deliver some unforgettable experiences.

Now, as the GamesCon event is in full swing in Cologne, Germany, EA decided to reveal the opening video of NFS Shift and give a brief glimpse into how the player will experience the races in the game. You'll also get a chance to see quite a few of the many cars that are going to appear in the game, from Lamborghinis to Ford Mustangs and everything in between.

Heavily emphasized in this video is the way drivers actually see and feel the race straight from the cockpit of the car. From blacking out in crashes to even seeing time distorted when pulling off some reflex moves, it is quite an experience to just watch, even if you don't control the whole thing, as you will when playing the game.

Without further ado, here is the full video released by EA on YouTube yesterday. Enjoy and look forward to NFS Shift this September on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms.
