You can even receive a message on your cell telling you that a friend has beaten your score

The latest NFS ProStreet developer's diary reveals even more cool stuff about EA's upcoming iteration in the popular racing series. To put it in simple terms, you haven't seen or heard of a better established social system to date, not to mention customization features that actually allow you to make blueprints to use for guidance later during the pimping out process. The game is really shaping up great, being just a month away from launch.

The first new feature worth mentioning is Race Day. Here, you can create race days, dictate the events, the location or even the exact colour that players are going to use for their cars. Gamers/friends can compete in different events but not necessarily at the same time. Why, because they have their own private leader board where everyone can post their score at the time they find most convenient for them.

Of course, when players log back in they're going to receive a notice that one of their friends beat their score. That's when you have to decide what you're going to do. Actually, you shouldn't even consider too many options and just challenge them to kick their arse again.

Another impressive feature, which is probably going to appeal to those that don't play 24/7 is that if a friend beats your score and posts it online, you'll be able to receive a message on your cell phone (your real cell phone that is) telling you that the respective friend is looking for some more arse kicking.

The coolest thing about NFS ProStreet's social service is that you don't have to race against your friends at the same time. This is where the "shadow car" comes in. The shadow car is actually a recording of a player's performance in a race, which you can use when you're racing to be able to see every turn and gear shift that your friend made, allowing you to even learn from their mistakes.

Needless to say, customization is a very important aspect when it comes to racing games, but with ProStreet, car customization is taken to an all new level, allowing gamers to actually create a blueprint, which they can later guide themselves to in pimping out their ride. You can even take your car into the wind tunnel and see its aerodynamics and stuff.

It's amazing how much EA has accomplished with this latest installment in their popular racing series and the game isn't even out yet. Every developer's diary to date has surprised us with brand new features added to the NFS series. It surely looks like they weren't lying when they said "competing at the highest level of street racing."
