Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has released a new application for its users, NFL Mobile, available for select 3G smartphones and 3G multimedia phones. According to the company, the new solution is meant to offer access to a wide range of information on teams, players and games, including in-depth profiles of current players and draft prospects, expert analysis and more.

The new application also offers users the possibility to enjoy NFL Network, including live coverage of the 2010 NFL Draft, set to take place from Thursday, April 22 to Saturday, April 24, at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Verizon Wireless customers will enjoy access to live radio broadcasts, postgame highlights, and more, not to mention that NFL RedZone, the popular channel from NFL Network, is set to land on mobile handsets during the ongoing year.

“NFL Mobile on Verizon Wireless will add new features later this year, including content from NFL training camps, preseason games and games throughout the 2010 NFL season. The new app also will offer live streaming of NBC’s Sunday Night Football and NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. In addition, fans will have access to fantasy information, news, and player and team statistics, as well as receive NFL Network, which airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day on a year-round basis and is the only network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football,” the carrier announced.

According to the wireless carrier, NFL Mobile is available on 13 devices, including DROID by Motorola, Motorola DEVOUR, DROID ERIS by HTC, BlackBerry Curve 8530, BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Storm2, BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Tour, BlackBerry 8830 World Edition, LG Chocolate Touch, LG enV TOUCH, LG VX8360 and Samsung Rogue. The software solution comes as a free application. Those who will download it before December 31, 2010, won't need a subscription to use it, but additional charges may apply to customers without an unlimited data plan.

Android phone owners will find the application available for download from the Verizon Channel in Android Market, while BlackBerry users will have to head over to http://mobile.vzw.com/nfl to download it. Verizon customers with 3G multimedia phones will have to text “NFL” to 2777 to receive directions on how to download.
