While HP is unleashing all-in-one after all-in-one, NEC is extending a product series of its own, upgrading a certain display, one that was and is servicing the public sector as part of the V series.

Consumers have been given more than enough display to gaze upon during the IFA 2011 trade show, each of them more awe-inducing than the other.

Now, NEC is giving something to the commercial sector, though it might be more accurate to say that it is enhancing its existent offer.

The company has been selling V-series displays for a long time already, and it is this line that is now welcoming the V422 and V422-AVT.

Both of these items are 43-inch LCDs (liquid crystal displays) with integrated tuners, as well as public-display-grade panels, which prevent permanent image retention.

The maximum brightness is of 500 cd/m2 and the contrast ratio of 1,300:1, while the native resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Additionally, DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI-D are all on their video output list, with DVI-D even boasting loop-through capability.

NEC threw in the benefit of the TileMatrix technology (lets one combine up to 100 displays), plus a real-time clock, protective glass, the ability to easily integrate a touch panel. There is even compatibility with many optional accessories (stands, wall mounts, etc.).

“This 42-inch addition to our second generation V Series lineup gives our customers more options when looking for the most current technologies in a broad range of sizes,” said Rachel Karnani, product manager for Large-Screen Displays at NEC Display Solutions.

“The expansion slot capability is a significant benefit for first-generation V Series customers looking to upgrade their displays, as it provides greater flexibility and future-proofing for the projects to come. It truly lets each user customize the installation for almost any digital signage application.”

Sales of the V422 and V422-AVT will start this month (September 2011), for $979 and $1,070, respectively.
