In just two months time, Japanese buyers will get yet another cool device to play with that us folks in the US and Europe don't have access to, the so called Tele Scouter head mounted display developed by NEC.

Like other solutions of this type, the Tele Scouter is comprised out of a pair of glass used to project the information needed upon the naked eye and a compact wearable computer running Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and powered by an 500MHz ARM SoC.

The two are connected to each other via a cable and communicate with a remote computer that delivers all the data required, saiys Akihabara News.

According to NEC, the idea is to let employees view all sort of documents, like manuals and technical notes, when working to help them with their tasks while keeping both hands free.

It isn't that hard to envision scenarios where the Tele Scouter would come as a great tool, but sadly the ¥400,000 (about $5,200 or 3,795 Euros) price of the device and the ¥1.9 million (around $25,000 or 18,425 Euros) software price will make may companies think twice before buying such devices for their employees.
