NEC is one of those companies better known for its enterprise-grade products than consumer ones, and it appears that it is quite eager to live up to its reputation, its latest act consisting of unleashing a number of new E Series models.

It so happens that NEC decided this was an opportune time for its collection of commercial-grade displays to expand.

As such, it brought forth the E322, E422, E462 and E552, their availability scheduled for this very month (August, 2011).

With full HD support (1920 x 1080 on E422, E462 and E552), they boast a static contrast ratio of up to 5000:1, plus adjustable backlights and overall low power consumption.

These aren't their only assets, of course, as NEC made sure to throw in VGA, Component Video, Composite Video and 3 HDMI ports, plus built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM analog/digital tuners.

Furthermore, professionals will benefit from special features, like multiple picture modes and closed captioning, which enables users to display text information for the hearing impaired.

Other specifications include parental controls, low profile stereo speakers and a swivel stand that can detach, to allow the panel to be mounted on the wall.

“The additions we have included in the second generation E Series make them more flexible and easier to integrate with a multitude of digital signage configurations,” said Rachel Karnani, Product Manager for Large-Screen Displays at NEC Display Solutions.

“The RS-232C grants elevated control management for customers that desire remote capabilities of multiple displays, a feature many find useful in these types of applications. By increasing the standard warranty, NEC is showcasing its reliability and support with one of the strongest customer service teams in the industry.”

backed by a 3-year parts and labor warranty (including the backlight), the E322, E422, E462 and E552 displays cost, in that order, $449, $699, $899 and $1349, respectively.
