Taiwan will benefit from the partnership between NEC Corporation and Tatung Company in full-scale mobile WiMAX.

This project is part of a larger one, called M-Taiwan. This is implemented at a wider scale and is meant to encourage the development of a technologically superior society. M-Taiwan encourages the large audience to use IT solutions in order to communicate with one another through networks and, furthermore, to socially grow.

One more thing: NEC has signed a memorandum of understanding with an organization that is involved in the M-Taiwan project. The purpose of this agreement is to cooperate with Taiwanese hardware and software industries in order to better introduce WiMAX technology on this market.

The trial of the WiMAX network will take place in Hualien city and is expected to be mainly used for tourism and medical services. The trial proved promising, as it reached performances of up to 6Mbps in video streaming service and internet access. Even more, the network turned out to be extremely stable.

Tatung Company declared that they intend to officially acquire the right to use NEC's mobile network in June, this year. Furthermore, the system will expand from Hualien to other service areas across Taiwan.

After almost 40 years of activity, NEC Corporation operates in more than 40 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. It currently provides Internet and network services for a great number of people.
