NEC just announced that its PX Series of projectors had grown by two members, the PX700W and PX800X, which are supposed to be both high-end and highly efficient.

Going right to the point, the projectors are the sort of device that one shouldn't expect to see in homes or even small offices.

Instead, the items are professional electronics envisioned for retail environments, higher education, houses of worship, large auditoriums, corporate uses (conferences, board meetings, etc.) and places with high ambient light.

Speaking of ambient light, the two newcomers are capable of projecting clear images thanks to their brightness of up to 8000 lumens (achieved through a 6-segment color wheel).

The contrast ratio of 2,100:1 is no slouch either, and neither is the lamp life of up to 2,500 hours.

“Our PX Series is ideal for customers requiring advanced connectivity, high brightness and networking capabilities,” said Rich McPherson, Sr. Product Manager of projectors for NEC Display Solutions.

“The integrated option slot allows users to implement the projector in digital signage applications, which allows greater flexibility when planning an installation. The potential for the PX700W and PX800X to be valuable in lecture halls, training rooms and auditoriums is reliant on its professional-grade quality and multitude of included features.”

Rounding up the feature set is support for an HD/SD SDI input card and SBC, plus HDMI, DisplayPort, three analog computer inputs, composite and S-Video connectors.

Also, the two projectors have electronic lens shutters, six bayonet-style lenses (with powered zoom, focus and lens shift) and stacking capability (up to four can be linked together).

It also has various technologies and technology supports for controlling the lenses, connecting networked projectors without extra software, controlling them with keyboard and mouse via USB and displaying JPG photos without a PC to help (from USB memory sticks).

All the above, and more (carbon footprint meter, password protection, cabinet control lock, automated power-on and quick start features, etc.) come for $8799 / 6546 Euro (PX700W) and $8689 / 6464 Euro (PX800X).
