NEC has been working on a series of large-format displays capable of providing corporate and digital-signage users with flexible and affordable digital-signage solutions. NEC Display Solutions America has been working on a new, commercial-grade product line known as the E-series. This line is made up of two large-format displays known as the E321 and E421, two models that boast a vivid image quality and a much clearer picture even in areas with a high ambient lighting.

“The introduction of the E Series brings cost-conscious affordability to those customers looking for entry-level digital signage in their facilities,” Luke Bruschuk, product manager at NEC Display Solutions, said. “Digital signage has evolved in so many facets recently, and NEC strives to provide high quality, long-lasting products that meet a variety of needs within the great range of the industry. The E321 and E421 are attention-grabbing displays that are ideal for showing an array of content, including high-definition images, advertising and news clips.”

The two digital-signage displays are built with multiple source inputs, enabling end users to work from a variety of different locations and easily switch between the desired content. The displays also feature brightness and contrast levels suitable for most applications. As more specific details go, the screens can display content in resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels, and a static contrast ratio of 4,000:1. Both models have full connectivity with multiple HDMI terminals, as well as Analog RGB, S-Video and Composite Video.

The E321 and E421 have multiple picture modes, which adjust the picture appearance for an optimum viewing, as well as advanced video settings, which ensure the source material is displayed accurately and properly. The raw display quality is not the only advantage of NEC's new products, however. Both products feature a built-in closed captioning, which enables users to display text information for the hearing-impaired, as well as a built-in NTCS/ATCS (8-VSB, Clear-QAM) analog/digital tuner. In addition, the signage displays allow users to block programs based on their rating categories via the Parental control (V-Chip Function). Input labeling also enables users to assign labels to the various inputs within the OSD (on screen display).

Besides video and input options, the E series display solutions also come with built-in, low-profile, 10W stereo speakers and a swivel stand, which can be detached to enable wall-mounted scenarios.

Bot the E321 and E421 displays, as well as their backlights, are backed by NEC's professional-level, 1-year parts and labor warranty. They will start shipping in February with prices of $499 and $849, respectively.
