Always paying heed to all the market possibilities, NEC has introduced yet another commercial-grade LCD display form the P Series. Measuring no less than 70 inches, the P701 comes as an addition to a line that already features the 40-inch P401 and the 46-inch P461. This display has a 15-percent larger screen surface than NEC's award-winning, 65-inch MultiSync LCD6520, even while it operates on the same amount of power. NEC is aiming it at airports, healthcare, rental and staging, public information, boardrooms and especially professional applications.

The P701 has a maximum resolution of full high-definition 1920 x 1080 pixels and a contrast ratio of 2000:1. Its premium-grade panel has additional thermal protection and internal temperature sensors and uses a sealed panel design that protects it from dust, grease and Steam, when placed in environments that are “less than optimal.” In addition, the display has a typical brightness of 420 cd/m² and a maximum one of 600 cd/m², as well as a variety of other features that increase its functionality.

One of these technologies is AmbiBright, “which ensures constant and consistent brightness in any lighting condition via the ambient light sensor.” Another is the Enhanced Digital Signage Technology Suite, which enables over 30 advanced features for ease when deploying and managing multi-screen networks. One of these features is the TileMatrix, which allows customers to set up a video wall of up to 100 displays in a 10 x 10 matrix. In addition, the monitor features an expansion slot that allows for the seamless integration of NEC and third-party components, for a wider usability.

“The addition of the P701 display brings a new size and increased variety to NEC’s large-format customers that demand a dependable eye-catching display solution,” Luke Bruschuk, product manager for NEC Display Solutions, said. “Applications that require the utmost in advanced capabilities will want to take advantage of the DisplayPort connectivity, full high-definition resolution and robust panel offered in this P Series display. The rapidly growing digital signage market requires a professional product with an expansive screen size that delivers essential features and consistent efficiency.”

The NEC P701 70-inch display will be made available during March and will be accompanied by a price tag of $11,799. The product will come with a three-year warranty, including the backlight.
