Display solutions developers naturally make a point of offering as wide a variety of displays as possible and as often as they can, to preserve the freshness factor. As such, there are always new arrivals on every segments, for every screen size range and for each type of applications. NEC is one of the companies that likes its screens large. Nevertheless, it is not oblivious to the term affordability, even when it comes to 120Hz panels. This is made obvious, or is meant to be made obvious, by the two latest additions to the E Series of monitors.

The two newcomers go by the names of E461 and E551. They have screen sizes of 46 inches and 55 inches, respectively, and a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). Also, as has been already implied, they have a refresh rate of 120 Hz. They are meant to be used for digital signage and in retails stores, conference rooms and waiting rooms, among other things. The two products are widescreen panels with a built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM analog/digital tuner, low profile 12W stereo speakers and four HDMi inputs. They also feature analog RGB, parental controls, a detachable swivel stand, composite video and S-Video, closed captioning support and a typical contrast ratio of 5,000:1.

“Customers receive abundant features with the E Series products at a low cost, bringing increased value to their digital signage application,” said Keith Yanke, Director of Product Marketing for Large-Screen Displays and Projectors at NEC Display Solutions. “The addition of both the E461 and E551 allow for flexibility in a variety of deployments and crisp, life-like content with a 120Hz refresh rate.”

NEC's latest creations, being the so-called entry-grade panels that they are, will supposedly cost only $999 (E461) and $1,499 (E551). Availability, at present, is slated for August.
